Have you ever met someone who gets so totally involved in something that every day it seems like he’s jumping on a new and perhaps innovative way to use it to talk to people?

I first met Mike through Counter-Strike when we both played with the [EGBT] tag. We’d run side-by-side down the sloping alley on Inferno, blasting away with our para-machine-guns in our quest to stop the evil T’s from succeeding in their objective.

Anyway … more on [EGBT] later. I <3 those guys. And gals. Especially Meg, who once warned, "FF is on! Watch where you shoot!" then promptly blew up three of her own teammates with a stray frag (seriously, that was like three years ago and she still hasn't lived it down).

(Another dude I met through [EGBT] is Tim - who comments here as Tron, and has a blog here - who helped me set this blog up … who am I kidding? Ya’ll know I’m technically inept, he built this whole blog!*)

Oh, back to Mike, who played as Mikuru, and now blogs as Maiki. Identity crisis? You tell me. Anyway …

First he had a blog, Protocol. Then he had a double-blog thing with Colin, who also = [EGBT]. Anyway, now he’s got Team-Otaku:

Team-Otaku is a community of people who enjoy anime, manga, music, movies, gaming, pocky, and technology. Welcome, and enjoy your visit. ^_^

Excellent! I mean, I’m not big on the anime and magna stuff, but Mike’s big on the “something for everybody” philosophy on life. Also: he recommended I read this book, which, really? Excellent, especially since it led me to read this book, which, really? Fuckin’ awesome.

*I do have the basic know how to add new links and what not. See that Maryland flag? All me, baby. If you knew how proud I was to get that thing there, you’d laugh at me. It’s okay, go ahead. Laugh. Fuckers.

I am spending St. Patrick’s Day night, not out drinking and getting drunk, but rather, cleaning my apartment (because Linda told me to). And rather than turn on the radio or the tv, I threw Star Trek First Contact in the DVD player and turned on the commentary track by Jon Frakes.

Wow! He’s pretty enthusiastic and bubbly, and it makes for an enjoyable one-sided discussion on the filming of the movie. It is, I would venture, the second best audio commentary I’ve ever listened to, and that which tops it is the Kurt Russell & John Carpenter track on Big Trouble in Little China.

Wow.

I wanna be …

Filed under: Life — MalSnay @ 9:37 am

Look, its no secret that maybe I took that old “I wanna be a Toys-R-Us kid” commercial (y’know, the one with adults playing with toys?) perhaps a bit too much to heart, but I don’t know that I wanna be a “Bain Capital LLC and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., and Vornado Realty Trust” kid.

Quick rundown:

Talked to Steve this afternoon and we got the little bluffing situation at the part-time job under control, which is good, because really, next Friday is going to kick so much ass money wise, and I need it - taking that Sunday and Monday off for a trip up to Scranton to visit the grandmother and other extended family members (not to mention my parents, who I’m sure must be peeved that they keep having to drive out of state to see me, even though we only live like twenty minutes apart).

The blogger happy hour was totally awesome. I got out of work at eight, and was crusin’ down 83 not long after with butterflies in my stomach. Then I missed the turn onto Remington, and people were shooting each other, and I damn near peed myself, so I did a powerslide and hauled ass the other way. (While I did get slightly lost, this previous was an exaggeration).

Met a lot of people — Fool, Jason Thomas, Kmart & Anonymous, some dude Donnie, Baltimore Roll, Jennetic, LiveinLove, Virginia, Supafine, MHG, Eebmore, Epiph … Linda and Jwer were both there, and then both bolted, although Linda did get in a snide “Clean your apartment!” remark … that’s fine, it’s true, I need to do me some cleanin’. (PS, if I forgot to mention you, I’m sorry! I can be an idiot like that! Don’t hate me!)

There was this one dude, Ben (I think was his name, if not drop me a line and correct my stupid self), who identified himself as a reader (and not a blogger per-se) who really flattered me by telling me he felt like he worked in the pizza shops himself. That really made my night, and I was all like, “Woohoo!”

Oh! Oh! I stole a bar glass. Not like I was the only one, but hoorah! I was so afraid I’d get busted, but then me and Fool made our escape out the side door, and were like, “Where’s Jason?” because by that time it was only the three of us.

Also: I have like four or twenty pictures of LiveinLove (damn, forgot to ask the pronunciation question) doing that pose from her blog’s homepage. You know the one. At one point she was grabbing at my camera: “Do I look sexy, or do I look drunk?” A second later, her appraisal: “Sexy drunk!”

Anyway, I’m a little tipsy, the cats are howling because apparently I haven’t fed them all day, and I’m going off to either do that, or to fall asleep.

If you’re curious, I’m leaning towards “sleep.”

Factoid: Fool has never seen a single episode of the “Dukes of Hazzard.” !!!!

Also: I posted pictures of LiveinLove and Fool because they’ve posted pictures of themselves on their own blogs, so I’m just assuming defacto permission, although methinks LiveinLove is going to kick my ass the next time she sees me (not hard, it’s a big target).
