Tonight — hell, today! — would have sucked big time if not for the double I took: one stop off Phoenix Road, and another waaay up in Sparks. $6.50 from the first stop (their bill was $13.50), $9.50 from the second (their bill was $10.50). Those two people made my night, and I love them.
love it!
federal employee? maybe soon …
At work, Scary Post Man came in for some slices. He’s not really scary, but everyone hates talking to him because he will talk forever. I don’t mind talking to him, because, hey, he’s a nice guy (maybe a little scary). Anyway, he starts talking about the recruiting woes they’re having at the post office down the street - slew of retirements, with more on the way, and out of all the applicants, they only had one they could hire: and he was fifty with a bad back (”Seen it before, he ain’t going to last,” Scary Post Man said).
So I started thinking. I mean, yeah, letter carrying ain’t the most glam job in the world, but it’s not like there wouldn’t be opportunities for advancement. (”Opportunity” and “advancement” are Ogre’s favorite words, so I feel kind of odd using them). Besides, at what the Post Office pays starting, I’d be making roughly the same income — and that would be working forty hours a week. Less hours, same money? Woot! (Plus? I could use the exercise).
Anyway, Scary Post Man said just go to MyPostOffice.com, click “jobs” and enter my zipcode, but the section of the site I surfed to has it set up a little differently, and only shows open positions for “rural carriers.” Well, he’ll be in on Tuesday - hopefully I’ll get a chance to ask for some clarification — I also might drive by the post office tomorrow to see if they have a sign posted with the job number.
So, we shall see …
Zombie Planet! (Act Two!)
Read The Teaser and Act One, first.
ACT TWO
“How are you feeling, Jason?†Dr. McCoy asked as he walked towards the bed where security guard Jason Thomas lay recovering.
“A little tired, Doc,†Thomas responded. “It must be the medication you gave me, makin’ me woozy.â€
“It shouldn’t be doing that,†McCoy frowned. “You should be up on your feet.â€

May Happy Hour/Star Wars Night?
Okay, who here would be interested in attending opening night of “Star Wars” with other Baltimore bloggers?
I’ve got two locations in mind - one, the Senator in Baltimore City. Two, Hoyts Cinemas in Cockeysville. I’m leaning towards the Senator, the problem I think is a lot of people want to see it at the Senator.
Anyway, I’m working all day today (grrr), but I was thinking, if you’re interested, comment here - blog about it if you’re a blogger - but we should start figuring out plans so ticket buying can commence before tickets are all sold out.
Actually, depending on what showing we get tickets for, we could squeeze this into a happy hour thing, before or after … (or, y’know, not).
So, yeah.
Oh - Star Wars opens Thursday, May 19th. So, what’s everyone think?
(I bought the soundtrack tonight - last night - before work. It’s very good, especially track #9.)
