This article - two years old, but, whatever - makes me very much desire the UPS job.

cleaning day
Big surprise, I’m sure, but I’ve been neglecting my apartment cleaning lately — actually, since early April. So today I’m focusing on cleaning my apartment, doing all of my laundry, and running key errands. I also just found $4 in the pocket of a pair of pants that I was about to throw out. Woohoo!
ups usps and why fed ex sucks
So here’s the good news: I have an interview with UPS on Monday the 23rd. Here’s the bad news: it’s 9 am at Arundel Town Center, or Arundel Mall. Not sure which. I also need to print out my driving record information before I go down there.
Have I mentioned I haven’t had an actual job interview in, oh, six or seven years? And the e-mail from UPS told me to expect a two hour interview? Eeep! Plus, now I have to dig my “nice” clothes out of the hamper and make sure to wash them. Also, the pay at UPS isn’t as nice as at the post office, so I’d probably still have to work a side job whenever I could fit it in …
Well, we shall see. I swear, the next postman I see, I’m going to be barragin’ ‘em with questions: “When are you posting job notices? I’m waiting! I’m waiting!”
I’m thinking of calling the post office over the phone … but if they aren’t accepting applications for the city carrier exam, what would be the point? I could try for the rural carrier post, if only to get my foot in the door, I suppose, but don’t you need a RHD car for that?
(Did you know if you want to deliver for FedEx, you have to buy your own truck and work as an independent contractor? Maybe that’s just for FedEx Home Delivery …)
