phone, rebate, traitor!

After reading Paul’s comment in response to this post, I kind of wished I’d just gotten a new battery for the old phone! I did, however, get a brand new phone — same model as my old one — and yes, the sim card worked so I still have all of my phone numbers. The graphics on this phone are horrible, and I lost my Hell’s Bells and Imperial March ringtones. Grrr.

I have a rebate form to fill out and send in, and I’m also facing a dilemma.

I love the indy shop I work at, but the business has been in the tubes for the past few months. With so much competition recently opening, it’s quite possible that we’re being drowned, and lacking the capacity to bail ourselves out. So despite the outrageously high hourly pay, I have been contemplating jumping ship. I already feel like a traitor thinking about this, but the bottom line is, I need to have cash in my checking account, and the flow just ain’t there anymore. I’m hesitant to do this because the indy shop’s paychecks come as a nice sounding “[The Owner's Initials] Enterprises, LLLC”, plus I have a long work history and a good reference to possible career employers.

I hate being grown up.

pot, meet kettle

It was a little funny to watch CNN last night and see G. Gordon Liddy criticize Matt Felt, aka Deep Throat, for not going through the proper authorities to rat Nixon out. Let’s remember that G. Gordon Liddy served time for his illegal actions in what would become known as the Watergate scandal … what right — y’know, aside from the obvious ones that we all have — does someone who participated in illegal back channels to try to circumvent a legal process, have to critique someone for leaking information to reporters in an attempt to circumvent a different legal process?

Talk about the pot and the kettle.

what the hell is wrong with me?

Five minutes searching eBay motors and I actually applied online for credit to see if I can buy this.
See, I knew this was going to happen yesterday — two days ago, actually — when this guy was popping open his twentieth beer and asking me, “Hey, if you’re not drinking anymore, and you’re serious about driving back…”

(That is a beautiful Jeep… needs a soundbar…4-cyl engine: but fuck it, my ‘98 was a 4-cyl, I can deal, I can deal … I even like the paint!)

UPDATE:

Thank goodness, I was declined! I mean, on one hand, I should be all “Oh, my credit should be better than that!” But on the other hand, I really don’t need to spend six-grand on a Jeep.
