too much temptation

Ice is too easy to melt, and those cards were too tempting, so I took them out of the freezer earlier this week and chopped them up with an old pair of rusty scissors. I took the remains of the cards and threw them into a pickle jar (complete with pickle juice) with a couple chunks of cat poo to discourage would-be identity thieves.

I have a serious problem with my credit cards. It’s actually fairly easy for me to not ring up new charges on them — but when you consider my balances, plus the monthly interest, plus the number of cards, it’s just impossible for me to make more than the smallest of dents in what I owe.

At least, it feels impossible.

I’m considering asking my parents to co-sign for a loan so I can consolidate and pay off these credit cards. I figure I could probably get raped on the interest on a loan, but it would still be less painful than what I’m paying in interest per year.

There are several reasons I don’t want to ask my parents for help. The first being that they warned me often about not getting over my head in debt, but I being head-strong (and apparently hearing-impaired) did not listen to them. Following on that as number two, I want to be able to get this under control myself and not have to keep running home for help everytime things get out of control. Third, my parents are incredibly awesome people who don’t pressure me and who have already co-signed for me on probably far too many occasions. Lastly, this would just be a blow to my pride, me saying, “Look! I can’t handle being an adult! Hand me a bucket and help me bail!”

Pride sucks. So does debt.

don’t care what you think …
