… via USA Today’s digital pages.
A Colorado congressman told a radio show host that the U.S. could “take out” Islamic holy sites if Muslim fundamentalist terrorists attacked the country with nuclear weapons.
The congressman later said he was “just throwing out some ideas” and that an “ultimate threat” might have to be met with an “ultimate response.”
Spokesman Will Adams said Sunday the four-term congressman doesn’t support threatening holy Islamic sites but that Tancredo was grappling with the hypothetical situation of a terrorist strike deadlier than the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
“We have an enemy with no uniform, no state, who looks like you and me and only emerges right before an attack. How do we go after someone like that?” Adams said.
Apparently, the answer to Adams’ question is “mass genocide.”
Here’s a simple rule I think Tancredo should adapt — would he suggest doing it if the terrorist responsible was, say, Tim McVeigh? If he can honestly say “I support nuking Christian holy sites if the terrorists responsible are Christian,” then hey, run your big mouth. Otherwise, sit down and shut up. This country is trying to convince the Muslim world that it isn’t out to destroy Islam — just terrorism. And Tancredo running his flap without bothering to check his brain well, buddy, y’ just ain’t helping.

– he’s a cool bad guy, a cool not-so-dead dead guy, and a cool weird-mystery-scientist-type guy. He also makes a cool slimey fish-eaten guy, dontcha think?

Coat Check: Coming Soon!
That little bastard! After picking up my check, Mary and I briefly discussed ways to get him back, then she said “Revenge isn’t cool” and talked me out of it. Or so I led her to believe. Personally, I’ve always liked “revenge is a dish best served cold” and come January I think I’m going to slash his tires.

… (well, obviously, Reeve is long dead). The quintessential superhero returns to the big screen … in a sequel to Reeve’s 1978 film. Uh, didn’t they already do three of those?

DVDAnswers.com has some information on the upcoming DVD release of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
Extras will include an audio commentary, a brand new long-form documentary, numerous new mini documentaries that take you behind the scenes of Episode III, and deleted scenes. One of these scenes chronicles the birth of the Rebel Alliance. It takes place in Senator Bail Organa’s office, and we meet Senator Mon Mothma, who, as we see in Return of the Jedi, is the leader of the Rebel Alliance.
Despite my vow not to buy anymore DVDs — thanks to my Netflix subscription — this will be one of three exceptions to that rule. The other two are Batman Begins (probably on DVD around the same time) and Battlestar Galactica: The First Season, which, by the way, if you’re not watching? You should be, because it is one of the best shows on television.
Regarding the tragic death of Freda Wright-Sorce, from last Monday’s live broadcast of The Don & Mike Show, here, from here.
… is alive and well and has not been assaulted and kidnapped and chained up by trackback spammers. However, I almost deleted his trackback to my post here because I thought it was yet another spam. In the time it took to write this other post, I recieved seven more trackback spammers. I have a feeling I’m going to spend a good chunk of my morning deleting spam. FUCKERS.
… I think, “Stop staring at the monitor and go to bed, you should’ve done that an hour ago.”
But if I had, I wouldn’t have caught and deleted the over fifty trackback spams that I’ve been pinged with in the last hour. I know they probably wait until the site owner/master is asleep so they can get their filth out their for as long as possible, but I am getting sick and tired of waking up to their shit, and finding the notifications two, three, even four pages deep in my “junk mail” folder.
Is it possible to disable comments and trackback pings after a certain amount of time? I’d like to be able to close acceptance of both after, say, a thirty-day timeframe. I don’t know if that’ll stop them, but nothing else seems to work.
In a related bit, at the supermarket the other day I saw a tabloid news headline: “BRITNEY SPEARS ALMOST BROKE.” I had a comment spam from someone purporting to be Mrs. Spears. Guess she is broke and this is how she’s makin’ a livin, eh?
