… I got the shower curtain up! I wouldn’t have done it without her helpful hint.

McNulty’s Foresight

My first encounter with HBO’s The Wire was many years ago, thanks to a sign nailed to a telephone pole on Cranbrook Road in Cockeysville. It read something along the lines of, “HBO’s The Wire Will Be Filming” and listed a date.

What the fuck was The Wire? we all asked at work. Because, of course, none of us had ever heard of it before. It was probably six months later when we found out that it was the anti-Sopranos.

Courtesy of Netflix, I watched the first three episodes of The Wire today. Back many years ago when I actually had HBO, I saw several episodes of the second season, and enjoyed it greatly. So today I started from the beginning and hopefully I won’t have to wait for too long before the 3rd season arrives on DVD.

Knowing how the 2nd season kicks off, I laughed as McNulty said his most undesireable job would be working on a boat. Hah. Enjoyable.

(It still isn’t as good as BSG).

locked out …

I took two bags of trash out to the dumpster this afternoon on my way to run an errand. Heading to my car, I pulled out my keys and noticed that my apartment key was bent at a strange angle. I tried to lay it flat – whoops – broke the tip clean off.

Long story short, I called maintenance and had to wait on the front step for half an hour before they arrived to let me into my apartment. On a bright side, they gave me a new key, and the “new key” fee was waived because I had the broken old key as evidence.

Woot!

There’s Something Alive in There!

In the dumpster. I heard it last night when I was taking trash out. When I came back from the grocery store at 1am — well, I was late cleaning, y’know, got everything done but the front bedroom, also — I saw what was making the noise: racoons scattering everywhere.

Great.

One of my neighbors (either this building or the next) is moving out. They’ve been leaving stuff by the dumpster the last day or so. Computer, microwave, tv, high-chairs, etcetra. I don’t know if they’re responsible for the still filled with dirty cat litter litter box that appeared atop the dumpster this morning, but I’m laying odds to it.

Also:

Since I’m cleaning I decided to take the opportunity to buy a new set of shower curtains and a new liner. So after scrubbing the bathroom (it looks and smells nice, now) I took down the old curtains, the old liner, the old ring thingys and threw them out. Then I took out the new ring thingys, only to find out they were too big for the grommets (? is that what they’re called?) on the liner, so I ran back out to Target for different ring-thingys. I got back, hung the liner, went to hang the curtain and — no grommets!!! WTF!!! Do curtains always come like that? Frustrating! Frustrating! Frustrating!
