Flabergasted

Filed under: Uncategorized — MalSnay @ 11:25 pm

I did a quick google search on “Malnurtured Snay” and the number three hit was this website called “blogshares.”

I’d never heard of blogshares before, but it’s totally cool — they even list the blogs from which I’m recieving the most “value”. What really shocked me were some of the blogs in that list — some of them blogs I’d never ever ever heard of before. More incredible? A few of them even had me on their blogrolls!

Anyway. Blogshares. Good to check out.

Poor Trent Lott

Out of the rubbles of Trent Lott’s house — he’s lost his entire house — there’s going to be a fantastic house. And I’m looking forward to sitting on the porch.

Good God Bush — there are times when jokes are innafuckingpropriate.

Gas Trouble

Filed under: Uncategorized — MalSnay @ 10:11 am

Lee’s got a really good post up on Right-Thinking From the Left Coast about the destruction of the gasoline-infastructure on the Gulf Coast and what that means for all of us heading into winter:

Within two months, gasoline will be five dollars a gallon. While most of the press coverage thus far has been showing poor black people standing on the roof of their demolished houses, the true impact of this disaster hasn’t even begun to be felt yet. The Gulf Coast is a major source of oil and gas for the United States. It’s a major port, and there are refineries all over the area where the crude is turned into gasoline. These, like everything else in the area, were destroyed.

The rigs were destroyed. The ports were destroyed. The pipelines were destroyed. The refineries were destroyed. The means of getting the refined products to market were destroyed. The homes of the employees were destroyed. And it is going to take YEARS to rebuild this infrastructure.

By all means, read the entire thing.

And tremble.

NO: Massive Explosion at Chemical Plant

Filed under: Uncategorized — MalSnay @ 10:04 am

So it seems the latest from New Orleans is a massive explosion at a chemical plant.

Every day that it takes troops to get into position, the situation will become increasingly worse. NO refugees and troops are going to die and the only question left when its all over and the bodies have been collected that people will really become angry with the only question that matters: “Why did this happen?”

And not talking about the hurricane.

There’s been a lot of buzz on the blogosphere about Federal money pulled from levee-projects to go to Iraq, but I don’t think that’s whats going to hurt Bush — I think the other thing the blogosphere is abuzz about — the super slow Federal response to this disaster — is what is going to end his Presidency. This is the worst disaster to ever hit this nation in the last century, and the response has been atrociously slow. There will be political fallout, and it isn’t going to be kind to George W. Bush who, correct or not, as the head of the Federal government is the man everyone is going to look to with a question of “Why?”

Yeah, I’m to the left, but I do think, deep down, that George W. is an essentially good person trying to do what he thinks is right. I think he’d be fun to hang with at a party. I also think the only reason he entered politics is because of his name, and because the GOP figured “Hey, easy victory.” I don’t think he’s a skillful politician, and I don’t think he’s ever had what it takes to be a leader. And, sadly, we’re seeing that now.

Meanwhile, ranting aside: do you get a paycheck today?

New Orleans is the new Atlantis

Or should be.

It lived long, but all things must come to an end, yes, a tragic one in this case. Get the people out, that’s the only thing that matters. Later: rebuild.

Rebuild elsewhere.
