I’m very frustrated with Netflix.
On Wednesday, I stuck three discs in the mailbox near work. By Friday, only one — only fucking one — had been returned. If this had happened once, or twice, I might assign blame to the Postal Service, but these super slow returns and delayed mailing have been happening often.
Two weeks ago, I stuck three discs in the mailbox by my other work for return. They should have been picked up by the Post Office on Monday, and returned on Tuesday, as usually happens. Instead, they didn’t get back to Netflix until Friday, and then Netflix refused to ship any of my other selections until Monday. They used to ship discs the same day they had some returned!
When I first joined Netflix, everything was peachy fuckin’ keen. I’d stick a disc in the mailbox one day, and have another two days later. Now I click on “queue” and scratch my head and wonder why my returns haven’t gotten themselves returned.
I read this site a few months ago — it alledges that Netflix will deliberately limit the amount of rentals “high volume” members recieve. In particular:
I suspected that Netflix was cheating me, but I wasn’t completely convinced until I read similar experiences from people on your site. I live in the Chicago area. The address for Netflix returns is in Carol Stream, IL, which is about 10 miles from me. My proximity to the return location is what made me start to question Netflix. When they ship a movie, it arrives in my mailbox the next day. When I return a movie at the post office (before the last pickup for the day), it arrives at Netflix the next day. When I started watching a lot of movies, I, like you, started to experience their delays. What is interesting is that I have driven the 10 miles to the Carol Stream Post Office. I have mailed the return envelopes in the same post office where they have their PO Box, yet they still pretend that some of the DVD’s I returned in a batch take a day longer to arrive in their office. About a month ago, I went on vacation for two weeks. For a week after I returned, I started to experience Netflix as I first had experienced them. I returned 5 movies at once, and they checked in all of them the next day and mailed 5 more movies on that same day. Of course, two weeks later (after I went back to my frequent rental pattern) the shipments are again getting delayed as your describe.
Again, I’m feeling frustrated. I’ve been trying to watch The Wire, but I’m finding it super effin’ frustrating with the slow pace of these mailings, and the feeling that I can’t escape that Netflix is bending me over and fucking me up the ass.
Netflix — you used to be awesome! C’mon, fuckers. Get your shit together.
