So Ogre was officially rehired last Friday.

Here’s the kicker: he was promoted, too.

So, let me get this straight — by the time he left our shop, he was essentially an insider/driver who would on rare occasion and only as an act of last resort, be left to run a shift. Then he went to coporate for a month, couldn’t cut it, and came crawling back.

And he got himself a promotion to assistant manager.

… the fuck? He’s still the same old Ogre.

This is really irritating because Zebulon was promoted to assistant manager and is making considerable strides in mastering the position. Zebulon has, in the last few weeks, progressed farther than Ogre did in eight months. Every complaint I had about Zebulon’s work habits are gone because he’s corrected them — there are new complaints, yes, but those have more to do with Zebulon learning a new job responsibility – and as he’s going, he’s erasing those complaints.

It really irks me that Ogre was given this promotion, presumeably to bring him back into the fold. I don’t understand why Greg would give him this — he’s just leading Ogre on, and it strikes me as very unfair – both to Ogre, and to Zebulon. I already told Zebulon (and Steve, for that matter) that I didn’t care what rank Ogre claimed to have, as far as I was concerned, Zebulon has earned it, and Ogre hasn’t. As far as I’m concerned, if Ogre tells me to do something, I’m going to clear it with Zebulon first. As far as I’m concerned, Ogre should never have been rehired.
