“Ignore the Drunk”

On the face of it, these two officers do seem to be, as Lee describes them, the “two dumbest cops in the history of law enforcement.” But when you think about how many drunks the average police officer deals with on a weekly basis, one wonders how much credibility any officer would give a drunk. “…Sasquatch is living in your basement, you know where Iraq’s missing WMD are, and you killed a guy in the woods? We’ll get right on that, my man!”

“Small-car interest falls with gas prices”

… according to an article in USA Today.

As I understand it, gasoline consumption increases in the summer, and the spike in demand is a contributing factor to higher prices. As we go into winter, and people drive less, the price drops as the demand drops. I guess what I’m getting at here, is that the prices are going to go back up next summer, possibly higher than they did this summer.

I mean, there was a gas spike in July — prices were at $2.30ish in June, then dropped to just above two bucks a gallon. I remember being excited that the price at Enroy was $2.03, particularly since I was getting use of a Wrangler for two and a half weeks. Saddly, about the first day I had the Wrangler, prices started skyrocketing — I remember being amazed at prices of $2.40 on a trip down to the eastern shore in the Jeep. And as we know, prices kept going up, and up, and up.

This decline in price is of course much greater than we had over that brief summer lull (that was a cut of not quite .30 cents at the more competetive gas stations — even with the greedy stations in Cockeysville, they’ve still cut their prices at least fifty cents), but I really do think prices are going to go back up come “top down” weather — folks who felt the pinch this summer and swore to themselves to buy a gas-conserving vehicle aren’t going to be too happy with themselves come May when they’re again paying $3 a gallon in gas, this time for their brand new truck.

I Saw My Car Today

Actually, yesterday, now.

It was parked behind the body shop. It’s very dirty. The new hood is on and painted, but the air-vent-cover-thing is missing. The new headlights are in. There is as yet no front bumper, and the quarter panels from both sides are as well absent.

I had my camera but my batteries died a quarter second before I took a photo. Sucks to be you.
