Ironic that the Sci-Fi channel aired a marathon of the Jaws movies, today, and that TLC seemed to have a lot of shark-related programming also. Last night, Peter Benchley died.

I Forgot To Take Photos
I don’t think I’ve ever seen that much snow on my Celica before. I should have taken photos … before and after, y’dig? But I didn’t. My spot is shoveled out, my car is cleaned off. I’m not going anywhere today regardless. I’ve got food and beer in the fridge, and plenty to keep me entertained tonight (cleaning this afternoon, don’tcha know).
There’s nothing better for meeting neighbors then cleaning off cars after a snowstorm. One guy had his window rolled down and was playing 98-Rock, while he and another neighbor cleaned out an empty spot and piled the snow in front of my living room window. That’s awesome because for the next few days, I won’t be distracted by cars pulling into the parking lot and shining their headlights into the room.

A Blizzard Hit It
Remember that snow storm we had back in, what was it, March of ‘03? I was stuck in my tiny studio apartment from Sunday until I got my Jeep dug out I think on Wednesday. I probably could have gotten out sooner, but I don’t think I wanted to work. Plus I’d parked at the back of the space and had like six feet ahead of the vehicle to shovel out. Six feet of what, three-and-a-half-foot deep snow? Not fun.
I don’t think it’ll take me this long to dig out, although I do dread the parking situation for the next week or so. The last two winters, living in this apartment, I’ve often put chairs out in my space to “reserve” them for myself — I figure, I dig the space out, it’s mine, as much as if I bled for it. Besides, it’s a Baltimore tradition and the County and the City used to be one and the same so why not bleed the traditions a bit, huh?
Later in the week it’s supposed to get up into the fifties, that’s what they were saying on the news last week, so look now — all this white stuff’ll be good and gone before you know it. There’s a pile of snow against my bedroom window. It’s kind of cool. I opened the blinds so the cats can perch on the window ledge and look at the outside. I should open the blinds in the living room so that they can see activity — people shovelling out their cars and what not, but to be honest, I’ve failed in New Year’s Resolution The Fourth, which was to keep my apartment clean. At the moment, it sort of looks like, well, I hate to say it, it looks like a “blizzard hit it.” (I was going to say “tornado” but wanted to be relevant).
I tried calling out from work. Tried? Because no one answered the phone. It’s impossible to call out if no one answers. So I called Greg at home — since the day guy was supposed to be in at ten — and he said he was aware, thanked me for being “on top of things*”, and we left it at that.
So I’ve got the entire day “free”, which is funny because my car is snowed in and it doesn’t look like maintenance did a great job plowing out a street through the parking lot. Hopefully, they’ll be back. In any case, I’ve got a lot of things I can do — I need to clean and organize my apartment, do a load or three of laundry, I’ve got Age of Kings II waited to be played, and since I finally watched my Serenity DVD, I’ve been dying to watch Firefly again. Also, I just about peed myself when I learned that Fox will be releasing the second season of Hill Street Blues this May. I like short waits between releases. And of course, I need to dig my car out sometime this afternoon. I don’t have to go anywhere — so I won’t — but with luck the sun tomorrow will clean her up right nice for me before work.
*And by “things” I wish he meant “a stunningly attractive, hot, naked woman, there of her own free will.â€
