Hypothetically, Now …

Filed under: Uncategorized — MalSnay @ 2:00 am

Hypothetical situation I would like to discuss.

I have a hypothetical coworker who is hypothetically cutting his hours severely in November to partake in National Novel Writing Month.

National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.

Valuing enthusiasm and perseverance over painstaking craft, NaNoWriMo is a novel-writing program for everyone who has thought fleetingly about writing a novel but has been scared away by the time and effort involved.

Because of the limited writing window, the ONLY thing that matters in NaNoWriMo is output. It’s all about quantity, not quality. The kamikaze approach forces you to lower your expectations, take risks, and write on the fly.

I could go into hypothetical discussions about hypothetical writings of his I’ve hypothetically read, and his hypothetical tendencies not to use punctuation, spelling, grammar, capitalization, spell-check (I’m guilty of that one!), and in hand-written situations, lousy god awful handwriting. All of that, hypothetically.

But really, I’m shocked and surprised he’s cutting his hours back to take part in this. He hypothetically works like twenty-five hours a week, and goes to a technical school in York (hypothetically). Personally, I hypothetically think he’s got enough time even with those committments to put an adequate amount of time towards novel writing, but what do I know?

Anyway.

Hypothetically speaking … you know I work fifty hours a week and am taking four classes at Towson University. That’s twelve credits, if you didn’t know. I was hypothetically considering also taking part in National Novel Writing Month, while still keeping my work and school load the same. I would be hypothetically doing this just to be able to rub my nose in his face.

Hypothetically speaking, would this make me an asshole?

(Unhypothetically speaking, I think I’m already an asshole. So would this make me more of an asshole?)

(Hypothetically).

When I Heard I Was Invited To A “Frak Party”, I Was Expecting To Get To Frak Someone

… but going to a bar to drink and watch Battlestar Galactica is a pretty cool idea, too.

Molly’s Public House in Remington is hosting a Frak! Party this coming Friday. I’ll be there. I don’t know when I’ll be there — depends on if I get out of work with enough time to get to the bar to see the episode, Exodus Pt. 1, in its entirety, but I’ll be there on-time or later.

Couldn’t you have just thrown yourself off a roof or something instead?
