I love your tree! Every year, my husband accuses me of wanting to get a “charlie brown tree” and Yes! I do really like the whole charlie brown look! After all, don’t they finally see the tree with new eyes and it’s more beautiful than the tin-foil ones?

And as a Christian – YES! Christmas is a secular holiday, or at least there is a secular Christmas, which I hope everybody who wants to celebrate, put up a tree, take what you like and leave the rest, whatever, has a great time. Peace Be With You. But trees are not really relevant to Christian Christmas – in fact almost none of the secular stuff is. A Joshua tree, an advent calander, advent wreath, those things would be….but nobody is making those from tin-foil, for which I am eternally grateful.

I may be putting lights on a ficus this year, but that’s about as committed as I get… I bought the whole giant ceiling-scraping tree the first year I was in the house, and that was fun, but man was it a lot of work. Also, agreed with tmz99, except that time with my family is a bit more like purgatory…

So, an atheist, a lapse Jew and an agnositc decide to put up a Christmas tree in their predominatly Orthodow Jewish neighborhood. Couldn’t have it too close to the window, because the lapse Jew didn’t want his collegues to see the tree. The atheist and the agnostic couldn’t care less.

It’s all about the presents, baby. Oh, and making the atheist’s toddler daughter happy.

And the cats.

This is off-topic, but where did you get that Baltimore Historic District sign? Did my tax-dollars pay for that? I don’t see any bolt holes or sure signs of thievery. It is nice. Back in HS, my sister’s bf’s name was Cullen and there is a Cullen Ave. in Dewey Beach, DE. Well not being professional thieves, we didn’t have any bolt cutters, and the sign still stands.

Love the Charlie Brown tree! I’m stuck in the world of fake trees because I’m horribly allergic to pine and cedar and probably fir too, but I’m not going to find out by spending $100.

And Christmas is definitely a secular holiday. Hell, Jesus was born in April… but I get dirty looks from my Catholic Sister-in-law when I say that to her kids as they go home to “bake a birthday cake for baby jesus!” Give me Santa any day!

Know what’s worse, though? I live in Oregon… and have a FAKE tree.

Well, technically, it’s just a little decorative tree and not meant to take the place of a real tree… but, yeah.
