I’ve never seen this before! Thanks for posting this, Here Comes A Storm!
Here’s An Example of a Religious Christmas Song I Love
CHRISTMAS MUSIC
I guess it’s the residual Catholic within me, refusing to budge, but the Christmas music I like best isn’t about reindeer with bright red noses or Frosty the Snowman, or figgy pudding, but rather hard core religious songs proclaiming the birth of the King of Israel. Maybe it’s because most Christmas songs sound childish and stupid, and it is the religious stuff that makes the hairs on the back of my neck standup. More likely than not, I’ve got enough memories of Christmas musical presentations in Catholic school which leaned my holiday music taste towards the religious and kept it there. Thankfully, that youthful indoctrination hasn’t kept me from thinking “Christian Rock†is about as fun to listen to as nails on a chalkboard (and only slightly less educational, at that).
for one and all
Some people celebrate Christmas because of their pre-Christian pagan beliefs, and some celebrate Christmas to honor Jesus’ birthday. Some people celebrate Christmas because they view it as a corrupted holiday now serving double duty as a secular one, and some people celebrate it because they enjoy giving gifts. Whatever the reason, there’s nothing that defines any of these groups so far from one another that the simple thought “Peace on Earth and Goodwill to Man(kind)” isn’t fitting for one and all.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, everyone.
