Here are photos of Lego’s upcoming Star Wars themed summer releases. Those of you who are fans of their Star Wars line might be as disappointed as I am.

Why the disappointment? These are all rehashes of previous models. A Naboo Starfighter was originally released eight years ago! The MTT — a boring model that didn’t move well if I recall correctly — was released a year later. Updating these are very odd choices: were either so popular as to justify redesigning and re-releasing them? Also puzzling is the release of the Episode III Jedi Starfighter: as memory serves, we never saw them with the jump-rings, and if you really wanted to release a jump-ring with it, you could’ve done it with Anakin’s starfighter in 2005.
C’mon, Lego, work with us here. Stop rehashing shit like you’ve been doing for the last few years — yeah, the new Millennium Falcon kicks the old one’s ass. Same for the new X-Wing, and the new Snowspeeder. And the new AT-ST looks rad too. But I’m pretty sure this is the last year you’ve got the Star Wars license — unless you reupped it — and me? I want some motherfucking Tauntauns. (I like this guy’s computer-animated extrapolation of what a Lego-designed Tauntaun might look like, and his idea for a set featuring them).
Well, at least there’s a Kit Fiisto in the new Jedi Starfighter.
That’s something.
