The Great Car Repair

Filed under: Uncategorized — MalSnay @ 11:20 pm

Here’s the thing: when you put 40k on your car a year, and when you beat the hell out of it like I do, this is all sort of run of the mill, see?

Bad things come in threes. Don’t get me wrong, I love my car, but couldn’t it have waited until spring break in three weeks? I’m probably going to miss at least some work getting all of this taken care of. In the order of priority:

1. Rear brakes. When I got new tires a few weeks ago they told me to wait until I needed an oil change, and get the brakes done then. “Not a huge deal. ” Anyway, tried to make an appointment for an oil change/brakes for Monday, but apparently three hours (take the car in at 8, need it back by 11) isn’t enough time to replace the rear brakes and do an oil change. Really? I would’ve thought three hours would be at least enough time. Grrr.

2. Check Engine Light. God I hate this thing. It’s been off for nearly a year, when I realized I’d spent hundreds of dollars replacing o2 sensors when the problem was I wasn’t actually correctly tightening my gas cap. Anyway, this is the story of the last week: so it came on. And then it went back off. And then it came back on. And then it went back on. Gaaah. Not a big problem, but I do hate seeing that fucking yellow light on my dash.

3. Oil change. I so don’t care. I can wait until I’ve graduated to get my oil changed and I won’t be sweating it.

So I think I’m going to talk to one of the other guys at BH to see if he can push for my brakes to get done Monday, or maybe offer to bring it in early Saturday instead. Time frame would be the same. Maybe, if it doesn’t snow tomorrow — snow? SNOW? wtf — I’ll see if they can fix me up in the afternoon between the Indy and the Franchise.

I’ll manage.

Call Back

I got my first call back from the career fair while I was in class today.

You might say I’m a little excited.

Would You Like a Pet Tiger?

Filed under: Uncategorized — MalSnay @ 9:25 am

Several years ago, a professor told me a story about a crazy eccentric rich lady who lived just past Boston Gardens about a century ago or so. She used to stick a beanie (one of those weird hats with the spinning thing?) on her head and take her pet tiger for a walk through the Gardens and around the Commons. Yes, pet tiger. No, I don’t know if the tiger had a muzzle.

Anyway, if you think it would be neat to have a tiger for a pet — but aren’t possibly so keen on cleaning up a tiger’s litterbox — allow me to introduce the Toyger (even though, apparently, they’ve been a work in progress since the 1980s).

I want a little tiger, too!
