I did some spring cleaning today. The kitchen looks nice - the living and dining rooms look clean(er). Some might say I’m getting a jump start on the new season: the reality is, I’ve put this off since last spring.

Gorn Topped Pizza

Delivering pizzas shouldn’t be like fighting the Gorn. I shouldn’t have to figure out how to make a fucking rock cannon out of a bamboo shoot and a pile of salt. Rather, I shouldn’t have to fight to keep my balance on your rickety wet-leaf coated porch (were you planning on waiting until next fall to rake?), or make my way in a complete circle around your house knocking on every door and trying to find a place where I can get cell phone reception to work so I can call you to tell you, “Hey, you know that pizza you fucking ordered? It’s getting effin’ cold here, jackass.”

For the record, here are things you should not do in the time-period between ordering your pizza and its arrival:

1. Take a shower.
2. Have sex.
3. Assemble your band and play loud enough to drown out your doorbell and phone.
4. Go run errands.

I’m sure you can imagine how thrilled I was when, attempting to back out of your driveway after I could get no one in your house to answer the door — despite raising a holy ruckus — you came over the hill and damn near hit me (and had the fucking nerve to honk at me, hello?!), then, after collecting your pie and putting it on the passenger seat, asked me two things.

First, no, because we’re not technically at your door doesn’t make this a “carryout.”

Second, no, you’re the one in the SVU, why don’t you pull onto that dirt ridge so that my tiny little Celica can get past you? Oh, your pizza is getting cold? I can think of a few ways that could’ve been avoided (like, y’know, being home when I showed up).

Moving?

Filed under: Uncategorized — MalSnay @ 10:45 am

I will have been in this apartment for four years on June 10th. This is my third apartment after moving out of my parent’s house in 1999, and possibly perhaps due to my recent problems with my leasing company in regards to the dog situation, I’m wondering if it isn’t time to perhaps make another move. I guess it’ll probably depend on the leasing company’s response to my letter which was in response to their letter. If I decide to move, I’ll have to do it soon — they’ve always mailed “lease renewal” letters in March over the last few years, and theirs is one of those deals where if you don’t respond in writing, they automatically renew your lease. (I should call to find out if they’re even willing to renew my lease, I almost hope they don’t, and since I haven’t recieved mine, I’m actually curious if I’ve got a choice in the matter!).

So I’m thinking that should the time be right for me to depart, I’m going to try to get an apartment in Steeplechase, which is located just a mile or so up the road from where I am now. Their base one bedroom apartment is actually larger than my current two-bedroom, but with that comes a slightly steeper rent. On the bright side, Steeplechase also has in-unit laundry machines (a plus!) and a balcony or patio (also a plus!). The biggest downside to moving? Actually moving. I’ve got a lot of shit. I think I could probably round up a bunch of migrants and a U-Haul, though.

(Then there’s the nightmare of a security deposit and all that crap … ugh.)

Here’s a floorplan of my current apartment (780 sq ft):

And the floorplan of my possible soon-to-have apartment? (804 sq. ft):

Anyway, I’m stopping by Steeplechase this afternoon out of work. Just to get some information. And plan. I know, though, that I’m not actually going to move. I guess I’m just at the point in my life — new bank, almost finished college and with a hopefully new job on the horizon — that I’m feeling the need to change a lot of stuff. I’m just expressing this, is all.
