The Revolving Door of Death

Filed under: Uncategorized — MalSnay @ 4:05 pm

So I’m leaving a business in the Hunt Valley Industrial Park after dropping off some food. This particular business has a revolving door allowing access to its lobby, and as I was leaving, a trio of laughing, giggling employees was approaching the door from the outside.

Now, you know what a revolving door looks like, right? This one had four “chambers.” So I enter a chamber directly opposite from Employee #1, no problem. Employee #2 enters the chamber in front of mine. Unfortunatly, Employee #3 did not seem to realize — as I did — that the chamber he wanted to enter was occupied. So, as I was trying to get out, he was trying to get in.

Problem number two? The other two employees, unaware that he couldn’t get into the chamber with me, didn’t realize that he was going to be injured if they didn’t, y’know, stop revolving. So, after colliding with Employee #3 (who was very soft and made for a soft collision), who couldn’t shut the fuck up about how dammed sorry he was, I immediately reversed my course and pressed my body weight opposite to the door’s motion. I don’t know if he knew what I was doing — he wouldn’t shut the fuck up or back the fuck out of the door — but the other employee, trapped in that void-space between entry and exit, seemed to figure out what was going on and stopped long enough for #3 to back away and for me to make my escape.

I really would’ve hated for him to be caught between the door and the frame and have him explode, because I would’ve been showered with blood and guts. Ew!

Blood Diamond

Saw Blood Diamond last night. I suppose it was decent, but I had a hard time enjoying it. I’m reminded of the public debate about blood diamonds when the film hit theaters — hadn’t anyone seen Die Another Day? Anyway, my favorite diamond movie remains Snatch.

Last night was the first night over this spring break where I actually got some “break.” Up until, it had been “spring work.” I’m debating whether or not to pick up a shift Thursday night — I think it would be the responsible thing to do (I’m so broke, and so behind in my bills, and …)
