He Says “Everybody Loves Batman” … Because It’s True
What Do Star Wars And Dirty Dancing Have In Common?
And the poll says …
Star Wars and Dirty Dancing are the films people most love to watch over and over again, according to a poll. The Star Wars trilogy topped the list of most-watched movies for male film fans and came second on the list for women, the Sky Movies survey said.
Fantasies and thrillers dominated the mens’ top 10, with The Terminator, Aliens and Blade Runner highly placed.
On the female list, Grease, The Sound of Music and Pretty Woman completed the top five.
The survey was carried out by the Sky Movies Sci-fi & Horror Channel to tie in with the Sci-Fi London film festival.
Star Wars, The Terminator, Jaws and The Lord of the Rings trilogy were in the top 10 lists for both sexes - with 50% of respondents saying they had watched the Star Wars films more than 20 times.
Hmm. Maybe it’s just me, but since the survey was carried out by the “Sky Movies Sci-fi & Horror Channel”, I’m wondering how … erm … varied … the target audience was. I’ve been trying to figure out what my favorite ten movies of all time are. Of course, I think this list is certainly going to change over time, but right now?
(And, of course, in no particular order…)
1. Highlander
2. Star Wars (the original - no bloody subtitled “A New Hope” either)
3. Indiana Jones & The Temple of Doom
4. Hot Fuzz
5. The Princess Bride
6. Blazing Saddles
7. Big Trouble in Little China
8. A Fish Called Wanda
9. Master & Commander: The Far Side of the World
10. Gosford Park
Jury Duty
Having lived in the County for eight years now, (this County, I’ve lived in two others in Maryland - one for twelve years, the other also for eight) I was pretty sure I’d escaped any such possibility of getting a jury duty notification form in my mailbox, but last night, upon returning home after a thirteen hour day and checking said mailbox, what did I find?
A jury notification form for a Friday in June.
Lovely.
