(Well, maybe certainly!)
I was pretty steamed when I read yesterday that Paris Hilton had been released from jail after only a few days but it looks like she isn’t as out of the woods as everyone thought she was:
Hours after she was sent home under house arrest Thursday for an undisclosed medical condition, the judge who put her in jail for violating her reckless-driving probation ordered her into court to decide if she should go back behind bars.
City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo complained that he learned of her release the same way as almost everyone else — through news reports.
Then, late Thursday, he filed a petition questioning whether Sheriff Lee Baca should be held in contempt of court for releasing Hilton — and demanding that she be held in custody. Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer’s decision to haul Hilton back to the courtroom came shortly after.
“It is the city attorney’s position that the decision on whether or not Ms. Hilton should be released early and placed on electronic monitoring should be made by Judge Sauer and not the Sheriff’s Department,” said Jeffrey Isaacs of the city attorney’s office.
Sauer himself had expressed his unhappiness with Hilton’s release before Delgadillo asked him to return her to court. When he sentenced Hilton to jail last month, he ruled specifically that she could not serve her sentence at home under electronic monitoring.
Delgadillo’s office indicated that it would argue that the Sheriff’s Department violated Sauer’s May 4 sentencing order.
“She would have gotten out early if she was plain Jane,” said Leonard Levine, who has handled numerous probation violation cases. He noted that overcrowding in the Los Angeles County jail system has led to thousands of nonviolent offenders serving only 10 percent of their sentences. “She did as much time as a normal person would have done.”
Rene Seidel of the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services said he had “never heard of” an inmate being released from jail for a medical condition.
Inmates with a cold are sent to a jail clinic, he said, and the seriously ill go to the jail ward of the Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center.
Paris Hilton was just ordered back to jail in Lynwood.
UPDATE II:
MSNBC says she might have to serve her entire forty-five days sentence.

I was pretty peeved when I read about it. I’m glad it’s not over.

Undisclosed medical condition? She probably threw a hissy fit and broke a nail.
Dumb skank.

I’m more irritated that it’s considered “breaking news” than I am she’s out of jail. Ugh.

I still wouldn’t be on her going back behind bars – she’s got enough cash to ensure this doesn’t happen. Unfortunately.

I wonder if female prisoners “do the nasty” with each other as much as their male counterparts allegedly* (* implying that I do not have firsthand knowledge) do.
Because THAT would be one HAWT video. I would call it, “Prisoner Paris: Cellblock H is for Hilton”. The opening scene would have Paris strapped into the Hannibal Lechter restraint dolly, complete with safety mask. After that, it would get real freaky.

I hope she serves her time like any other person would!!!!

Medical condition…such as an eating disorder? Send her to a treatment center and force her to eat. THAT would be a good punishment for her. Everytime she considers driving trashed she will remember that if she gets pulled over they will *gasp* force her to eat.

I love the fact that it seems like public outrage actually does something!!!
So now she can go to jail, and perhaps the spoiled brat will learn something… (I do think that may be asking to much.)

Any bets on how long she stays in the hoosegow this time? Maybe a little longer since I understand they have her on the mental ward.

I just think it’s ridiculous that this is news. The woman does not need any more publicity — good or bad, it’s all good for her.

well hell. I thought this was america, where money and popularity as a star football hero could buy your way out of a conviction for murdering your wife and the pizza delivery boy (be careful out there Snay) or get you out of a case of child and monkey molestation if you can moonwalk.
So why should a pretty and rich little thing like her spend another day in jail?
Cuz…maybe…just maybe…there IS a god in heaven, and justice may actually prevail!

While I understand the logic behind putting her in a “celebrity” wing, they didn’t do that for Jeffrey Dahmer, who was promptly murdered (not that I miss him, but come on). Also, while I agree that there are more important stories, the media has spent the last 50 years turning away from reality, so it’s not like this should be a surprise to anyone.
And lastly, if Paris weren’t Paris (ie: if she were a normal person), she’d not only go to jail for a while, but she’d lose her license and probably never get it back. She’d lose her job and not have a billion dollars waiting for her on the way out the door. I have ZERO sympathy for her. She’s an adult, and her stupidity is her problem, and she deserves way more than will happen to her.
