“Today, I told my attorneys not to appeal the judge’s decision,” Hilton said in a statement posted on TMZ.com. “While I greatly appreciate the sheriff’s concern for my health and welfare, after meeting with doctors I intend to serve my time as ordered by the judge.”
“This is by far the hardest thing I have ever done,” she said in her Saturday statement. “During the past several days, I have had a lot of time to reflect, and have already learned a bitter, but important lesson from this experience.”
Seriously, Paris, you’ve got enough cash to hire taxis. Fuck, get a chauffeur!
But this is what I really agree with her on:
“I must also say that I was shocked to see all of the attention devoted to the amount of time I would spend in jail for what I had done by the media, public and city officials,” Hilton said in the Saturday statement.
“I would hope going forward that the public and the media will focus on more important things, like the men and women serving our country in Iraq, Afghanistan and other places around the world.”
Self serving or not, she’s making a valid point. There are a lot of far more important things going on in the world then Paris Hilton. I mean, for Christ’s sake, tonight is the series finale of The Sopranos! Priorities, people.
*I realize that it’s very ironic, then, I’m even writing this post.

True but,I doubt she wrote that statement.

Sorry but I’m not buying it. Like Claire said, I doubt very much she came up with that. In fact, I am quite sure that she said something similar prior to going at all-I will serve it, time for reflection blah blah blah. But you are right…hire someone to do the driving!!

I don’t think she wrote it either. I can understand going to jail is hard… it must be terrible. But she only going in for a few weeks. I don’t go for all the schadenfreude, but I don’t feel sorry for her at all.
If she is concerned about global issues, she perhaps might have considered using her media profile to draw attention to them earlier. Rather than to herself.
I wonder what this bitter lesson she has learnt is? Is it that the law always catches up with you; that you have to deal with consequences that money can’t buy you out of; or that if you court media attention, it sees everything – not just the things you want them to?

Claire beat me to it. Paris must have hired a clever scriptwriter for a change.

I thought the “hardest thing she’s ever done” was in that video.

don’t tell me what happens. I was never into the sopranos but we are indulging in the box sets and we are about to start season 3. Eep. I am so excited.

Worst case — although poor publicly for the chain — she could call up any Hilton hotel and ask/demand a ride home. Certainly they have chauffer services.

The last line took my original comment away…:)

Her comments are totally self-serving..
I’m sure I know more about what’s going on in Iraq that what she does and I’m Canadian and don’t know much about politics!
I wonder how much she’s paying the person who told her to say that?
Comment by Nancy — June 10, 2007 @ 3:28 pm
Holy shit, did she think of that all on her own??? Seriously though, she’s right!
And as for the driver, I wondered that from the beginning…why wouldn’t a pretty young drunk starlet have a freaking driver????? I would!!!!
Comment by Arlene — June 10, 2007 @ 3:32 pm
Good grief. I have nothing else to say about that.

PH is a buttfuck moron, but watching all the brouhaha about her IS amusing!

I feel a little sorry for her. Just a little…
Comment by JLee — June 10, 2007 @ 6:46 pm
She may just be the most annoying person on the planet at this point. We should drop her in Iraq.
Comment by losrulz — June 10, 2007 @ 9:05 pm
She has a point??? No, her publicist has a point!

I think all the previous commenters judge books by their covers. If anybody bothered to dig deeper, they’d realize that the woman has brilliantly leveraged herself to become wealthy in her own right and all that ditsy-blond attitude shit is an act to promote herself more. I’m excited to see what she will do with her life next. Maybe something along the same lines as the stuff Angelina Jolie is into?

She wants the public and the media to focus on “more important things”. I think the issue with Ms. Hilton is very important as in why did the California prison system let someone out because they cried. What kind of system is this? And why do they have a habit of letting people out for after serving 10% of their sentences due to overcrowding. Ms. Hilton’s issues with the justice system highlighted some challenges the need to be addressed and discussed. Also, the world is filled with spoiled kids with way too much time on their hands, maybe we should figure out how we can get them to behave BEFORE they get into legal trouble.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! The fact that we even know the spoiled skanky bitch’s name is due entirely to her media whoredom, and she now complains that she gets too much attention? She exists purely as an object of media attention, and if the cameras ever turned away, she would drive her car through an elementary school playground just to get back in the spotlight. Her raison d’etre is media coverage. To complain about it now is like hearing members of Congress complain about politics.
