Back in the late 1970s when I was in 10th grade and Dinosaurs Still Roamed the Earth, I went to a Star Trek convention. They were a lot simpler then, since there wasn’t any of the “Kirk v. Picard” debates going on at the time–the first film wasn’t out yet (never mind TNG), and in fact wasn’t even discussed by anyone as a definite project.

One of the cool things all weekend was being able to see several episodes on the big screen in that hotel. And, of course, anytime a character fell to the floor, the whole room would chorus, “He’s dead, Jim!”

Episodes on the big screen are fun. If you watch “Amok Time” carefully you’ll see the big lights above the Vulcan set soundstage, although I guess that’ll get fixed in the remastering.
