I did not come away from today’s interview feeling particularly well about it. My throat was dry, too-often I found myself stammering over phrases I’d rehearsed previously, and when asked “what job title are you applying for?” halfway through (trick question! didn’t see it coming!), I went completely blank. Got the obligatory “We’ll call you”, and, who knows, maybe they will. I’m going to run to the grocery and then send out a few more resumes.

Hey maybe, you don’t know!
The nervous stammering is tough though. It’s one of those things that once it happens it’s hard to stop.
That’s why you should take a shot before you go into your next interview!
I’m only partially kidding.

I know exactly how you feel. I’ve been there myself. I usually obsess over the damn interview for days and days afterward.

You need to go through a couple of these interviews to get used to them. Don’t let this one discourage you.

Don’t count yourself out yet, Snay. It sounds to me as if you had a fairly average interview.

Let me offer this up: the interviews that I thought I blew were the ones where I got the offer. And the ones I thought I aced, were the ones I never heard from. Maybe you’ve got the bad radar, like I do.

What sort of job are you applying for?

Was that your first? It is pretty hard in the beginning, but don’t worry – it gets easier. :)

Every interview is a rehearsal for the next one. Hang in there.

Interviewer: “Where do you see yourself in the next five years?”
Me: “Hopefully not dead.”
I actually GOT that job.

No matter the outcome of this interview, the fact that you got an interview certainly means you are capable of getting another. All you can do is keep at it.

I got one of the best jobs of my life over the phone with a company that didn’t do phone interviews.
Sorry I haven’t been visiting much, having a tough time in the real world.

i always think of interviewing the same as dating. i hated both. but in the same vein, the ones that are a flop provide data for how to not do blow it the next time around.

I guess you just need more practice.
